Frequently asked questions
- What is Terramate?
Terramate is an infrastructure as code (IaC) management platform.
At its core is Terramate CLI, a powerful dev tool that introduces the concept of stacks, enabling developers to build and manage modular and scaling cloud platforms with IaC. Stacks are tooling agnostic and you can use Terramate Stacks to manage Terraform, Terragrunt, OpenTofu, CDK, Pulumi, Cloud Formation, Kubernetes, and others.
Terramate Cloud provides you with the best IaC management experience possible. It helps you orchestrate your stacks in your existing CI/CD platform, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab and Bitbucket Pipelines, so you don't need to buy yet another CI/CD vendor. It also provides a powerful dashboard that adds observability and insights, deployment metrics (e.g., DORA), notifications, drift management, and more for your stacks to provide the developer experience and infrastructure to build, scale, and observe all your infrastructure managed with IaC.
- What IaC tools does Terramate support?
Terramat currently supports Terraform, OpenTofu and Terragrunt. In the future, we will add support for IaC tools such as Pulumi, Cloud Formation, Kubernetes and Ansible.
- Is it possible to add additional users to the teams plans?
No, we currently don't offer to add any additional seats to the teams plan. If you need more users, we advise you to contact our sales team for a custom enterprise plan offer.
- Is Terramate a CI/CD platform?
No, Terramate is not a CI/CD platform. Terramate provides an orchestration engine that seamlessly integrates with your existing CI/CD, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD and BitBucket Pipelines. So, instead of onboarding yet another CI/CD system, you can use the CI/CD that is already in place.
- Does Terramate Cloud require access to my Cloud Accounts or State Backends?
No, Terramate doesn't require access to your cloud accounts or state backends, making It extremely secure to use. For details about how Terramate works, please consider our "How it works" section.
- How long does it take to get up and running with Terramate Cloud?
Compared to other platforms in the market, Terramate does not require you to migrate your existing infrastructure code so that it works with our platform. Getting up and running with Terramate Cloud only takes 5 minutes.
- How can I migrate from another platform?
When considering a switch to a new product, the primary challenge is usually the migration process. The new product may appear attractive, but the thought of the extensive effort required to transition from the old to the new can be daunting, leading to the abandonment of the idea. An effortless migration experience could prevent this missed opportunity. Migrating from another platform to Terramate CLoud is easy. You can use our CLI to import your existing stacks and start using Terramate Cloud in minutes.
